1 PERSON DEAD IN MANATEE COUNTY CRASH

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a one vehicle fatal crash that occurred this morning. Carlos A. Rivera of Bradenton was operating a pick-up truck northbound on Cooper Creek Boulevard when it appears he failed to negotiate a curve, drove up over a curb and struck a tree and some shrubs. The vehicle then caught fire. The passenger in the vehicle, Haudrey F. Figueurdo, of Georgia, was killed in the crash. The driver is in serious condition at Lakewood Ranch Medical Center.
