SEMI AND CAR INVOLVED IN CRASH ON CORTEZ BRIDGE

June 30, 2010 @ 11:46 AM — by Kathy Noden

A semi tractor trailer and car were involved in a crash on the Cortez Bridge Tuesday morning.

A semi tractor trailer operated by George Gonzales of Brandon was traveling west on the Cortez Bridge Tuesday morning.  For unknown reasons, he veered into oncoming traffic and struck a vehicle operated by Jonathan Quick of Bradenton Beach.  After striking Mr. Quick's vehicle, the semi then crashed through the concrete guard rail with the cab hanging over the water.  The driver of the semi had to escape through the passenger door.  Mr. Gonzales is employed by Cummings Foods.

Mr. Quick could potentially have a claim against George Gonzales and Cummings Foods for any damages he suffered as a result of the collision, including a claim for the damages to his vehicle, loss of use of the vehicle and for any personal injuries he received.

MEDICAL PAYMENTS COVERAGE ON HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE POLICIES

April 21, 2010 @ 11:23 AM — by SEO Admin
Homeowners insurance policies have several different types of coverages. Liability coverage protects the homeowner from claims for personal injuries or other damages that are caused by the homeowner's negligence. In Florida, the liability limit for a homeowner is typically a minimum of $100,000 while some policies provide limits of more than 1 million dollars. Medical payments coverages, on the other hand, have much lower limits typically ranging from $1,000 to $20,000. The huge disparity in dollar limit amount is only one of the significant differences between liability coverage and medical payments coverage. The other difference is that the homeowner does not have to be negligent in order for the medical payments coverage to pay an injured person's medical bills.

There is a misunderstanding by some that the insurance company for the homeowner where an injury o

GOVERNOR TO VETO ANY LEGISLATION THAT RAISES INSURANCE RATES

April 08, 2010 @ 11:20 AM — by SEO Admin
On Wednesday, April 7, 2010, Governor Charlie Crist sent a message to lawmakers that he will veto any legislation that raises insurance rates on home and business owners. He added that he will veto any such legislation with pleasure. Crist doesn't believe that legislators will override his veto as this is an election year and such legislation is obviously unpopular with voters. Many voters are struggling just to keep their homes out of foreclosure and any rise in insurance rates would certainly have drastic consequences for many. Governor Crist is leaving office to seek the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate.

INSURANCE CLAIMS -- SO WHO IS REALLY "ON YOUR SIDE?"

April 01, 2010 @ 05:51 PM — by SEO Admin
Allstate says you are "in good hands." State Farm wants you to believe they are "like a good neighbor" and Nationwide "is on your side." They all want to create the illusion that they are your best friend and will be there for you when you need them the most.

But whose side are the insurance companies really on? According to published reports, State Farm's Chief Executive Officer was paid $9.4 million in compensation in 2009, down from $13.7 million in 2008, affected by the financial results of 2008. Reports also show that State Farm enjoyed $777 million in profit in 2009. State Farm is currently ranked 31 on the Fortune 500 list, ahead of huge companies like Walt Disney, PepsiCo and Microsoft. Yet, they have filed for an average 9.2 percent rate hike on auto policies, dropped over 100,000 homeowner policies in the State of Florida and are seeking to increase rates on the remaining homeowners policies in Florida by 14.8 percent.

So how do these insurance companies and t
